No channels after the switch? The troubleshooting guide
You did everything right and the screen says "No signal"? Don't panic. Most problems are fixed by the steps below, in order.
Step 1: Automatic channel search
Menu → Settings → Auto search → choose Antenna / DVB-T → Start → wait → Save. If the search finds the "HELLAS SAT" channel, you are receiving the new network.
Step 2: Manual search
If the automatic search fails (Hellas Sat / Philenews):
- Multiplex 1: channel 35, multiplex 2: channel 48
- Free Famagusta: channels 23 and 26
- Don't tune to the old channels 21 and 30: those were Velister's.
Step 3: Check the country setting
The Department of Electronic Communications found that some decoders imported from Greece may not tune automatically, because their software doesn't allow it. If this happens, change the country/region setting to another European region and search again. Some TVs also need the country changed.
Step 4: Check the equipment
The three things that, according to Hellas Sat, fix most problems:
- Antenna direction. Point it at the nearest transmitter of the new network (the transmitters are in the same places as before).
- Cable quality. HD/DVB-T2 carries more data, and old or worn cables cause problems.
- Connections. Loose or corroded connectors.
Especially if you have an amplifier (booster): the Hellas Sat signal can be so strong that the booster causes problems. Try without it or ask a technician.
Step 5: Check the decoder
Some low-quality models don't support DVB-T2 properly. In some cases, according to the Department, the system only worked after the decoder was replaced. Make sure the device says DVB-T2 and H.265/HEVC.
Step 6: Ask for help
- Hellas Sat: 22 000 737, daily 09:00–21:00
- hellas-sat.digital
- An antenna technician
Common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| No channels at all | Wrong HDMI input, cable, incompatible receiver |
| Channels cutting out | Old cables, booster, weak signal |
| Only some channels | Incomplete search: search again |
| Blocky picture | Poor reception: check the antenna direction |
